Experience
Marcus Risso is a senior patent counsel with a wealth of experience. Marcus advises senior executives, investors, and entrepreneurs in both business transactions and intellectual property, including in the fields of software, mechanical, materials, artificial intelligence, and bio-sensor technologies. In addition, he has experience advising corporations and other business entities in connection with entity selection and formation, intellectual property strategy, licensing, contract preparation, and other related business matters. Marcus also has experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications for a variety of clients, from start-up ventures to major corporations and academic institutions. As a patent attorney, Marcus has successfully drafted and prosecuted to grant hundreds of patents, both domestically and globally.
Marcus received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Davis, followed by both a business and law degree. His journey through the rigorous academic paths of a joint JD/MBA program at Pepperdine University has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of both business and legal challenges. Awarded both a Master’s in Business Administration and a Juris Doctor, Marcus’ approach to advising clients is deeply rooted in strategic analysis and a pragmatic understanding of innovation.
Marcus is admitted to practice law in California, the United States District Courts, and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is a member of the State Bar of California and various bar associations.
